Nutrition
Nutrition
Good nutrition helps the body withstand stress, recover from surgery more quickly, have more energy and stamina, and helps decrease the risk of infections and other illnesses. Cancer patients need to eat properly, but side effects during treatment sometimes make eating a challenge.
Thompson Cancer Survival Center has a registered dietitian on staff to discuss patients’ nutritional needs. The dietitian can develop an eating plan for the patient, including nutritional management of treatment-related side effects. The dietitian can also give advice on the use of herbal or nutritional supplements, provide eating tips to enhance overall wellness, and help the patient plan for nutritional needs after treatment is complete.
