The Thompson Cancer Survival Center Foundation was established in 1994 to provide ongoing support of the treatment efforts at the cancer center. Since that time, hundreds of generous individuals, companies and others continue to give to the Foundation in support of Thompson Cancer Survival Center. These gifts ensure leading-edge cancer treatment, clinical trials and technology advancements as well as services such as early detection; education and direct patient support are available and accessible to all people throughout our region regardless of their ability to pay.
As Thompson Cancer Survival Center continues to serve our community and the region, there are many opportunities for you to help strengthen our programs and services and make a difference in the fight against cancer.
Your gift to Thompson Cancer Survival Center Foundation can take many forms -- from an outright gift of cash or real estate to a bequest. Depending on the type of plan you choose, you may reduce your taxes, increase your income, and protect your heirs while helping Thompson Cancer Survival Center conquer the battle against cancer. Ongoing and increased contributions are the source by which cancer will be conquered. There are many ways to make a gift of support:
- Cash/check donations
- Annual giving
- Gifts of stock, real estate or property
- Planned gifts (trusts and wills)
- Gifts in honor of or in memory of a loved one.
The Foundation is a tax-exempt charitable organization under IRS code 501(c)(3). All donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed.
The BUDDY'S Race Against Cancer, a 5K walk and run, is Thompson's flagship fundraiser spearheaded by a partnership between Thompson and BUDDY'S bar-b-q. What started in 1993 with a handful of friends and a passion to raise awareness about cancer prevention and early detection has grown steadily to become one of the area’s most successful fundraising efforts. That first race drew a crowd of several hundred and raised about $27,000. Since then, the BUDDY'S Race has raised $4 million for cancer screenings and education throughout East Tennessee. Thanks to BUDDY'S Race Against Cancer supporters and participants, thousands of medically-underserved individuals receive potentially life-saving screenings and education each year. Unlike some fundraisers, all of the proceeds go to fight cancer locally.
