 SELECT
SELECT Selenium and Vitamin E Cancer Prevention Trial
 Evidence has shown that Vitamin E and Selenium may be able to prevent prostate cancer, but further research needs to be done.

Eligibility:

  • Age 55 or older (age 50 or older, if African American)
  • PSA < 4.0 ng/ml
  • Cannot be taking prescription blood thinners (Ex. Coumadin) or > 175 mg per day of aspirin
    		• This study will last twelve years and participants will be randomly selected to received one of four treatments:
  • Selenium and Vitamin E
  • Selenium and a placebo that looks like Vitamin E
  • Vitamin E and a placebo that looks like Selenium
  • Two placebos
