Thompson Cancer Survival Center has named Gary Barlow as the executive director of the Thompson Proton Center. Barlow will manage the day-to-day operations of the proton center.
Barlow joins Thompson Cancer Survival Center from the New Mexico Cancer Center, where he was leading the development of a new proton therapy center. Prior to his work there, he spent eight years as the executive director on a team with US Oncology, McKesson and Baylor Scott & White that developed and opened the Texas Center for Proton Therapy in Dallas. He was also previously the technical director at the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute, where he was responsible for the day-to-day clinical operations for over 150 patients daily.

Thompson Proton Center, formerly the Provision CARES Proton Therapy Center, was acquired by Covenant Health in July. The acquisition expanded the offerings of Thompson Cancer Survival Center to include proton therapy, one of the world’s most advanced forms of radiation therapy for cancer treatment.
Barlow received his bachelor’s degree in radiological technology from the Medical University of South Carolina.
